About Me

Ryan Taylor

Hello! I'm Ryan Scott Taylor. My journey is one of connection, expertise, and a drive for ethical leadership. I'm an IT specialist, author, and creator with a passion for technology, storytelling, and sharing knowledge. My path has taken me across continents and through diverse industries, shaping my unique perspective.

Early Entrepreneurial Spirit and Diverse Experience

My entrepreneurial spirit emerged early, from selling plants to buy my first car to establishing a pool cleaning business. This drive propelled me through a variety of sectors, including restaurants, retail, security, banking (at a bank with over 10,000 employees at its head office), hotels, and manufacturing. I've successfully rolled out large-scale technology projects, negotiated government contracts, and even acquired a construction company, demonstrating my versatility and adaptability. My portfolio also includes the management of over 30 radio stations across four US states, including Idaho Falls, Logan Utah, St. George, and Evanston Wyoming, and their complex transmission infrastructure.

Global Connectivity and Technological Expertise

My expertise extends to critical infrastructure projects, including my involvement in the West Africa Cable System (WACS) and the Eastern Africa Submarine Cable System (EASSy). These projects, vital for connecting Africa to the global digital landscape, provided me with firsthand experience in the interplay of technology, international politics, and ethical considerations. My work with MTN, ACE, and DWDM technologies further highlights my deep understanding of global network connectivity.

Ethical Leadership and Sustainable Development

My commitment to ethical and sustainable business practices is exemplified by my involvement in a large-scale hydroelectric project in Zambia. This ambitious project, designed to generate over 230 MW of power and incorporate a data center, game park, hotel, and fiber optic links to multiple African nations, was ultimately halted due to political and environmental opposition. This experience deeply impacted me, reinforcing my dedication to navigating the complex challenges of balancing development with ethical and environmental considerations.

Academic Pursuits and Professional Certifications

My dedication to continuous learning is evident in my academic pursuits and professional certifications. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Technology from BYU-Idaho and am currently pursuing a Master's in Information Systems at the University of Utah. I have completed over 13 professional certifications, including a FEMA-accredited Cyber Security Defense Certification.

Personal Conviction and Faith

My passion for ethical leadership is rooted in personal experience, shaped by the impact of detrimental government policies on my family. My faith has been a constant guide, informing my approach to leadership and commitment to ethical practices. I deeply value the support of my family: Lauren, Erin-May, and Colton, along with my parents, in-laws, and others.

The NeverEnding Abis, GMP², and the 6 Ps Framework

My book, "The Almost Impossible Task of Separating Politics from Business: A NeverEnding Abis," reflects my holistic approach to success. My GMP² principles and 6 Ps framework (Politics, Policy, Policing, Purposeful, Productivity, and Profitability) provide a practical guide for navigating the complexities of the modern business world.
